The Zune app for Xbox 360 served as Microsoft's digital media service for music, movies, and TV content on the console. It allowed users to stream or purchase a wide selection of entertainment, integrating with the broader Zune ecosystem found on PCs and Windows Phones.

The app supported HD video playback, featured a simple interface optimized for Xbox’s controller and Kinect, and enabled access to both personal media libraries and the Zune Marketplace. Later in 2012, Zune services began transitioning to the Xbox Music and Xbox Video apps as part of Microsoft's move away from the Zune brand.

UI/UX Examples

Overall, the Zune app on Xbox, tightly woven into the NXE dashboard, positioned the Xbox 360 as a complete home entertainment hub, bridging gaming and digital media consumption.
Seamless Playback: Users could play HD videos and music directly through their Xbox 360, with support for party mode, allowing friends to watch or listen together over Xbox Live.
Marketplace Access: Direct access to the Zune Marketplace allowed users to rent, purchase, and download content within the app, syncing purchases across other Zune-compatible devices.

Personal Library Integration: The app connected with users' local libraries and Windows PC collections, letting them stream or play their own content on the Xbox 360.
Unified Navigation: The Zune app used the tile-based NXE layout, making it easy to browse music, movies, and TV with a controller or Kinect voice and gesture commands.
